Has anyone had an issue with just clamping on the X pipe on to the remaining pipe. I purchased a Magnaflow X pipe and was just thinking on using the clamps that came with the X pipe. I have a welding shop and can weld the pipe on but then I have to take the cat section off but thats just more work.Cutting the exhaust off under the car keeps everything aligned. Any thoughts besides me being lazy? :cry
Unfortunately the Magna Flow that I got was welded in a jig that was a little off. The drivers side cat-back tip ended up way to low.
Shawn at LAPD said they had heard of this before with the Magna Flow and B&B cat-backs. I'm totally confused on that because the B&B's with the stock middle section fit perfect.
My installer blamed it on the Magna Flow jig it was welded in and a problem with the angle on the drivers side flange that meet up with the cat-back.
We had to remove the middle section (with the cats & X-pipe) this week-end to bleed the clutch master. The clamps gave us something to leverage (beat) againts while wiggling the section from the free floating header H pipe.
We only had 1 small leak...at the infamous bad flange!
Weld it. I had a pro do mine (you sound like one yourself) and he did a beautiful job. I had him leave the H-pipe installed, to keep the tailpipes in alignment. After an X-pipe is installed, the H-pipe serves no engineering function but is super to use to keep everything straight. Another advantage is a good weld job eliminates leak potential. My guy cleaned up the factory welds, also. His welds were much cleaner than Chevrolet's. :yesnod:

All the vendors have a less expensive weld in only, ours sells for 99.00 some for139.00 all made by the same co.If you going to weld save 150.00 and get the less expensive not so beutiful model they all do the same job and no matter what any vendor tells you there is no HP gain to talk about.
Were a very active Bassani dealer and we wont make the 4-7 pony claim but they are beautiful but its truly skin deep.
We sell you what you want but we let you know the alternatives if you can weld spend 99.00 and put the change to something better.David Smilovic
