Default New Aeromotive 340 Stealth Pump

Hello All,

Aeromotive released a direct drop in replacement fuel pump that suppose to flow more than a 255 walbro pump. I'm trying to figure out what the factory inlet/outlet configuration is for a factory fuel pump for a 2002 C5 Z06 would be.

If anyone has pictures they can post up of their factory fuel pump that would be great.

I'm trying to get an honest answer without competing companies trying to sell their fuel system setups.

With some research, I found the below part # associations cross referencing the numbers to Walbro fuel pumps.

Here are some crossover numbers for the inlet/outlet configuration. The GSS342 is the replacement for the vette.

Walbro #.......Aeromotive #

GSS340...= ..11140
GSS341 ..= ..11141
GSS342 ..=.. 11142

Since inlet/outlet configurations vary from year to year on C5-C6's, pictures would help a ton or anyone that has replaced their fuel pumps just recently to chime in would be greatly appreciated.

I recently looked into this briefly. Aeromotive does not list/show which of their three part numbers are a direct replacement for C5s. They show "TBD". I would suggest calling them for more info on this as they are the ones offering the product.

Btw, Racetronix says they use a Walbro GRJ420 in their C5 kits.

I contacted ab Aeromotive Rep and they are also unsure which of their pumps actually work as a direct replacement. I believe the Walbro Part # Racetronix provides is the part # for the whole kit and not the pump itself.

I will be buying one of these this summer. Would be nice to know where the inlet is on the C5 also. I did twin walbaro 255s in my camaro, this one 340 should support upward to 650hp! Would be perfect for the heads cam guy with a small shot.

The outlet offset isnt really a big deal from what Ive seen on my 3rd gen Iroc-z tank setup.

From what I can determine, the GRJ420 is a C5-specific pump assembly originally developed in conjunction with LPE. It is an assembly in which their pump is installed inside the "fill bucket" from Walbro and was originally an exclusive sold only by LPE. Apparently this exclusive relationship with LPE no longer exists and Walbro started offering it for sale to other distributors, like Racetronix.

As I see it, this Aeromotive pump needs to have the same mechanical/physical characteristics to either fit inside the factory C5 fill-bucket or come with it's own C5 compatible fill-bucket assembly, like the Walbro unit does. From what I can tell, you can't just simply take the factory C5 pump out of the factory fill-bucket and replace it with either a Walbro GSS-4xx (series) pump or one of these new Aeromotive "Stealth" pumps. Something about the physical shape/size precludes this apparently.

Maybe others can jump in with more info in case I'm not understanding things correctly. I definitely like the idea of anyone (Aeromotive or anyone else) coming up with a higher flow-capacity fuel pump that allows it to be basically a plug-n-play, like the Walbro GRJ420 unit, but as it stands right now, this Aeromotive "340 Stealth" does NOT appear to be compatible with the C5 factory system, but could be used in a custom setup like the one from RSI, etc.

This is all correct except for the fact that our 97-02 C5 pumps are from LPE.
LPE uses our wiring components.
The A/M pumps are not directly compatible with the C5/C6 senders.

Thanks for posting. I appreciate it. It's sometimes difficult to make heads or tails from all the information out there these days, even more so when looking at competing products and their marketing claims, etc.

Btw, I currently am using your C5 pump/direct-wiring kit and it works very well for my application. Having an electronics background from the military, I recognize high quality (especially the wiring harness and all associated connectors, etc) when I see it. Well done.
