Default Factory air box

Looks like my C5 is possibly starving for air, is the tube on the side of factory air box really the only source of air?

Anyone cut a hole in this thing, does it help?

I'm assuming you mean the tube on the drivers side, which is not the air intake for the assembly.....rather..it's the air supply to the AIR pump. There are many threads covering cutting holes, zip tie mod, etc. At the end of the day, most guys just end up buying a free flowing aftermarket assembly, instead of cutting up/rigging up their setup.

I did the same as above but not as big of a hole. I covered it with some mesh and replaced the filter with a k and n. not really sure it did a lot but it was fun to do

Yes, early C5s have very poor air filter tops, they only have those two 3/4 to 1 inch "tubes". I replaced mine with a 2002 ZO6 filter top, much better, both sides are vented and a large slit in front. It is still water safe (to water if you don't have a hood seal or if you lift up hood after washing or rain.
