transmission grinding?

transmission grinding?

I have a 99 coupe and it likes to grind while i am trying to downshift into third and sometimes into 5th...its not all the time.

I talked to a few guys and they told me that if i replace the clutch fluid that could fix the problem. I am thinking maybe the clutch and i have nightmares about it being the transmission, but like i said it is not all the time.

does anyone have any insight to this? especially the whole "changing fluids" thing?

It sure wouldn't hurt to change the clutch fluid. I changed the trans fluid in mine and it helped some, but didn't "cure" it.

Do a search on the "Ranger method" for changing clutch fluid.
I've done it 4 times and now the clutch fluid stays clear.
