PCM is apparently fried in my 98. Should I go with a 99+ and "attempt" the re-wiring and swapping all of my tune info over, or just find another 98

Go for the newer PCM well worth the effort.

Communicating with HPTuners support. It "locked up" while writing a "tweaked" tune and now the car won't do anything and it will not allow me to write to it.

Have you got time to come help me figure the wiring out
My 98 PCM worked fine, but if I HAVE to purchase a PCM, I would really like to update. Just from the "wiring post" Ive read, it looks like a nightmare

I can send you everything you need, by way of schematics, and will help any way I can. If you want to do the job right, you will need specific tools for the delphi connectors(no biggie).

Check this thread out, so you know what's involved:

Thanks Mike

I had read that thread, and that's why I am

What tool do I need to get? I assume its for removing the pins??
Would it be too much trouble to send the schematics to my work PC?To make all of this more stressful, My home PC (e-mail etc) has gone down and I'm borrowing one for the research

The swap looks difficult enough, but I keep reading about guys having issues (fuel codes, etc) after the swap. Guess Ill just keep reading everything I can find.

Thanks

I'm getting feedback that I will have to make some "changes" in a 99 PCM before I swap it in. Not sure what specifically they are referring to, but fuel gauge, VIN issues etc. are some of the ones I am hearing.
Do I have to have a "tuner" flash something to the PCM to make it compatible?
I will download and tweak my own tune with HPT, but want to know what else might need to be done.
Thanks to Mark for the schematic
