Default Is it worth it?

I have a stock LS1 in my 1997 Corvette (just recently purchased). A friend has a set of 243 heads he was going to sell me. I have the stock LS2 TB, Intake manifold, cam and springs from my 05 GTO. I need help connecting the dots.

The heads are ported I believe, which came off his Z06. So I guess the questions are:
1. how much should I offer on the heads?
2. Can I use the cam I have or do I need a new one?
3. If i need a new one, recommendations?
4. Will the TB and intake work for this application, or do I maintain the stock pieces?
5. Is it worth the effort in the end?

Its the economy car in the house right now, so I'm reluctant to mess with it but you can never have enough power. No, I can't blow a bunch of money on this otherwise I would have just bought a Z06. LOL

I'd offer him no more than 400 for the 243's, if he's a good friend he should give them to you for $350 w/springs. If they're ported, add another $100-$200. You could do a 224/228 cam and run cirlces around stock Z06's without breaking the bank.

243s are selling on ebay for roughly 500 bucks and you would probably be better off not using the LS2 stuff and getting a LS6 intake.
