Default a/c Climate control

I just finished a search for a problem I have with my 98. With the A/C on it blows cold air out the drivers side and hot out the passenger side. The temp. control for the passenger side makes no difference where its set. I do have vacuum at the block under the dash area. Any feed back would be appreciated.

I posted this in general discussion and was told to post here. Also I have the dual electronic display unit. I'm not where I can get a hold of the codes I pulled but they were to do with the actuator door stuck open or closed. I did check the vacuum block by putting vacuum at each nipple and you could hear each door opening and closing. Thanks for any help.

There are many post on cool/hot one side or the other. First, can you change the airflow? Does it blow air out the correct vents for the mode selected? If the air is not coming from the correct vents you have a vacumm leak. Many detailed (picture post) on repaing this problem. If the air blows correct vents it could be an actuator or charging problem. Many post on actuator changes. Sometimes the actuators will throw a code. You need to check your codes and post, then someone can give you specific details on troubleshooting. Good luck!

HI, I got this from Bill Curlee, you can give it a shot and see if it helps.

The vacuum actuators have nothing to do with temperature. The vacuum dampers just control air flow thru various vents:

recirc/vent, floor vents/upper vents/defrost

The HEAT & COOLING are controlled by the ACTUATORS.

Try this:

When you Turn the ignition switch ON, Turn the AC System "OFF"

Clear the HVAC DTCs. When you Clear them, see if you can hear the ACTUATORS CYCLE thru their full ranges. If they do, see if the DTCs stay OFF. Do this several times so that they can calibrate them selves.
Hi, got this (only partial) from Bill Curlee, you can give it a shot., its free and easy, and it may or may not help.

Turn the HVAC to ON / AC and see if the DTCs remain OFF. If not, CLEAR the DTCs with the system ON and see if you can hear the actuators cycle.

I did this procedure several times and it fixed my HVAC issues

Again, just my 2 cents worth, but if it is blowing cold on the drivers side, probably not a freon issue as that tends to be associated with when the driver side blows warm?
