Default Not all tire sizes are created equal...

Not all tire sizes are created equally. For example:

Goodyear SC 295/35/18 Sect width 11.7 Tread Width 10.2
Potenza S0-3 275/40/18 Sect width 11.2 Tread width 10.2
G-Force 295/35/18 Sect width 11.9 Tread width 9.8

Bridgestone has the same tread width on 275's as compared to the Goodyears Super Car tires and more than the BFG's. The Bridgestone's also come in 35 series with a 10.2" tread width. I was going to buy bigger rears for my car to go with 295's but it looks like the Bridgestone's offer the same contact patch with their 275's as most 295's. Maybe this is Why they are the best handling tire according to the tire rack? I noticed that most S03's are oversized compared to the competitors. I thought this was interesting.

I went with the S02 because the tread width is 11.5 on an 11.9 section width. It was the largest footprint available in a 295-35-18. I really like them.

Yoko AVS Sports 295/35/18 Sect width 11.8 Tread Width 10.6

Yokos I believe has the most contact patch in 295's

Thread width cannot be compared from one manufacture to another :nono: because they rate (measure) them differently. You can compare section width though.:yesnod:

BTW: The best handling tire is BFG G-Force KD :D

P.S. Section width will be affected by the rim the tire will go on.
Listed section width is per average recommended rim width.
From there on add (or subtract) 0.2” from section width for every 0.5” change in rim.

What I'm starting to discover about tires, wheels etc is that maybe the C5 engineers knew something. What are the chances of that?

Not big :nonod: Otherwise they’d outfitted C5s with 335s (or at least 315s) in the rear and 285s in the front like on the Viper.

I agree. My 275's have never hooked up. What's the use of having all this power if all you can do is sit there and spin. :smash:
