Default Leaking TPS Question

98 right front tire losing about 5 lbs per week. Turns out leaking from the TPS grommet. I have done the research on the fix (replacement part as well as torque specs 106 lb in) My question may be a bad one but it will beat taking the tire off the rim 2x. Do I remove the old grommet and replace or do I put the new one right over the old? My old one is not broken just no longer making good contact with the back side of the rim.

could it be the "o" ring ?

You can buy them at home depot
Use a #9 O ring from Home Depot.. use a little silicone grease

The correct torque for 97-00 is 106 inch-pounds.
NOTE that is just under 9 foot-pounds.

Thanks for the reply, I have already identified the o ring as the problem and I am aware of the torque specs. My question is, when I install the new oring do I put it right on top of the old one or do I remove the old one and replace with new?

Do NOT put it over the old one.

Have you tried snugging up the aluminum lock-nut? A couple years back, I had one seeping a bit and I re-torqued it and applied a couple drops of Green Loc-Tite to the threads. The green is a wicking type material that's specifically made for fasteners that have already been assembled. I had no further problems.
