Dirty/soaked in sulfur fuel level sender is fairly common.
Start with a few bottles of techron concentrate and a couple of fresh tanks of gas and see if it takes care of it. It will take a few hundred miles at least to start working I would estimate.

Can it be a sulfur build up and go in and out? This has now happened for the third time in about three months. What's making it not read and read again? If it's one layer of build up you would think it would stop reading until it thinned out or was gone.
