is it possible to do without taking them apart? how hard of a job is it to remove and reattach them?
I have a nasty squeak coming from the rear end. its not the sway bar, I can't tell where it is for sure because the sound travels through the entire suspension system. no matter where I listen with the stethoscope, its always coming from that point. the sound comes and goes, every time I try to find it is when its gone. but it always comes back and its driving me crazy. the problem seems to happen when the car is wet, after driving through rain or being washed is when its worse. someone suggested ball joints. it does seem to be louder around that area.
About the only way to lubricate them would be to carefully drill a hole (the proper size) into the side opposite the stud and then thread a self tapping grease nipple into said hole.
Most ball joints are non serviceable (not greaseable). You may be able to get replacements that are, but it depends on the application. I would think if it is making noise it is shot. You should be able to check it for play to determine that. Getting wet would not affect it unless the rubber boot is broken and letting water in (and grease out), but that may actually quiet it?? More likely bushings as they would make more noise when wet.
Just my thoughts.....
