I didn't drive my '98 6-speed for a couple of weeks. When I started it this morning, it lit up with no problems. After had driven maybe a mile I pushed in the clutch and the engine rpm dropped, and then the engine shut off. It does this any time I push in the clutch while I am moving. If I am sitting still the engine will eventually idle but hunts between maybe 500 and 1000 rpm, and runs a little rough. When I first start off, there is a minor hesitation but once the engine speed is above about 1000 rpm or so it cleans up and runs smoothly. After several starts I go a CEL

I'll start shooting trouble on it tomorrow. About six months to a year ago I removed and cleaned each of the grounds (at least I think I did)
Any chance anyone recognizes the symptoms and codes and can share how they fixed it? Any thoughts on the most likely culprit, what to check and how to check it, and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
The boot between the MAF and the filter was loose. That's because I lost an argument with a curb a month ago that whacked the skid plate, a horn, the steering position sensor, the front bumper unit, one fog light and both Z06 grills. It also broke the upper radiator support that lets the MAF flop around and come loose.
