So I sold my Textralia pressure plate and disk (kept the flywheel) and bought the McLeod RXT clutch. The flywheel came balanced with the Textralia when I bought it, do I need to pull it and have it rebalanced with the McLeod Clutch?
I would never run a clutch that I haven't seen balanced in front of my own eyes in a car thats as big of a pain to change. I've battled balance problems in the past and never again.
If the flywheel was actually balanced with the clutch housing, you should have it checked.
Normally, flywheels are balanced at the factory by themselves.
The last engine I built, I put the flywheel on the balancer and it was off slightly, so I zero'd it out. Since I had the flywheel mounted, I went and checked the clutch housing which was ever so slightly out, so I did a little grinding to get it right.
Now I balanced the flywheel by itself and then added the clutch housing.
I've heard of guys bolting the housing on the flywheel and balancing it as a unit skipping the step of checking the flywheel only.
I think that is silly for the exact reason you are going through right now.
Was the flywheel out of balance or was it the clutch housing? Unless the flywheel was checked first, you don't know.
Also, if they did any corrections, did they drill the flywheel or grind on the clutch housing?

Nothing was wrong with the flywheel or previous clutch. I simply needed a better one to hold more power. No previous vibration issues to speak of.
Yeah i'd have it checked too. I took mine into a driveline shop and they checked the flywheel by itself and then the whole assembly together. It balanced out perfectly and they marked the assembly with a paint mark so i put it back in the way they tested it as just in case. ~Cole~

Oh, I understood your original post to say they sold the clutch and flywheel as a balanced assembly, like it was some special package deal.
If it was just a flywheel and then a clutch that the vendor just matched up and put in a box, I wouldn't worry about balancing it unless you have the time and want to at least have it checked out.
If you think they actually put the assembly on a balancer, you should probably have it checked with the new clutch housing in case they did some modifications from the factory balance.
The named brand parts are made pretty well and should be reasonably balanced from the factory and are fine for a street engine.

From my understanding, it was, as it is a Textralia flywheel and I had a Textralia PP and disk...IIRC, they were balanced.
I may pull it off and get it checked and resurfaced.
I would because when I bought my RST it does not come balanced from the manufacturer. Plus the piece of mind that you have it balanced just in case something does happen later down the road you don't want to be "What if" just beacuse you didin't want to spend the $100 or so to balance it.
