I put the LS6 intake on this week and the car keeps throwing " Heated Oxegen Sensor, Insuficient Switching Bank1 Sensor1" Any ideas on whats happening and how to cure it?
Ran at the track tonight and see no real improvment over the LS1 intake...disapointed.
Check that the 02 sensors are functioning..I pulled the same code when I first pulled the cats and installed the TPIS headers.....I replaced the sensor and code went away...Good Luck:D
Thanks Vince. I did not touch them with the intake swap, and the headers have been on for quite some time w/no codes.......still puzzeled, but will try it anyway!
1153 comes up as well! Andy, Did you notice this after you did the intake as well? I have thrown no codes before this other than sporadic ones....this is steady since the LS6 intake.
Andy: Go to the GM tech site and browse the manual. The troubleshooting for these codes is lengthy; of note however, is that the manual says simultaneous 1133 and 1153 codes are often seen with contaminated fuel. Recommended fix is to drain the tank, change the fuel filter, ultimately, perhaps change O2 sensors.
I had exactly these codes, simultaneously, a couple of weeks ago out of the blue. Followed the above recommendations, and they're gone.
On the other hand, I had a bunch of related codes for awhile after I assembled my engine (when it was too lean due to a malfunctioning ported TB). I'm wondering whether these sorts of lean/rich switching codes have a lot to due with aftermarket Heads/Cams, intakes, PCM programming etc. I have seen a number of posts about this on a variety of fora. I'll be going to Ed Wright's in a couple of weeks for real-time dyno tuning and I plan to ask him about this as well (and will post his replies here if anyone is still interested).
I am planning on an ARE 436 (Summer, Fall? Waiting for Nick) which, hopefully, will make all this moot.
Update! Set the MAFT back to 5% rich base & 2% rich WOT and the codes did not come back. (also put new fuel in so it could have been that.) We were trying to go richer due to knock retard showing on the autotap....but we picked up and ran good all nite! We ran Sunshine 1/8th mile and went to the quarter finals before a bad reaction time took us out.
The car ran 8.17 every run we didn't scrub!
