Michelin Needs to Update Their Size Info
I have just finished replacing the tires and wheels on my Z06 in preparation for installing C6 ZR1 ceramic brakes.
- I replaced my Michelin Pilot Sport 2 - 275/35R18 front tires with Pilot Sport 2 - 285/30R19 tires that I mounted on HRE 893R 19 x 10 inch rims. No surprises here as the 275s are listed as 25.58" in diameter and the 285s are listed as 25.73" in diameter.
- I replaced my Pilot Sport 2 - 305/30R19 rear tires with Pilot Sport 2 - 325/25R20 tires that I mounted on HRE 893R 20 x 12 inch rims. Michelin shows that the 305s are 26.2" in diameter with a tread width of 12.3". For the 325s, they show the diameter as 26.4" and a tread width of 11.5".
- The following plan-view picture shows the two tires, with the 305 on the left and the 325 on the right. It is obvious from the picture that the 325's tread width is greater than the 305's and more than the 11.5" that Michelin states:
For those of you who have tubbed your C5s, this is a direct bolt-on replacement that makes your tires competitive with the C6 Z06 and ZR1.
