ideas on check engine light coming on
Very strange...I am sitting at a light; air temp is a crisp 64 degrees; car has been running absolutely great...no stumbling, smooth idle, responsive as can be....I am just sitting there idling at the light, and the check engine light suddenly comes on....WTF.
I retightened all clamps and screws on the air intake recently when the car came out of storage...because I've had air leakage before causing the light to come on with fuel trim issues, so I am confident there is no rogue air messing with the MAF now. Also, the car was properly tuned when my headers were installed last summer, and it ran just great. So, what other demons could cause this condition? Maybe it's just the gas cap, but who knows...any other ideas?
Hi Jerry.
Switch out gas caps, or borrow one?
Then reset & see if the code dissapears.
Here is what member robsc501 suggests if it's not the cap.
Start the car when cold, the air pump should come on then pull the hose off the check valve on the drivers side (@#7 cyl). If you don't feel any air take a look @ the hose running from the air pump to the shut off valve. Checke it for being kinked or if there is blockage. Do the test on the left side. If you can not find the problem then you may have to have it checked by a tech 2. Could be the stuck one way valve or a lazy 02s.
Good luck.

You are mistaken. P0410 is for the AIR system.....nothing to do with the gas cap.....O2 sensors(would have a corresponding code).......and a Tech II is not needed to troubleshoot !
