Hi guys, I am using Rocco's step by step compressor replacement guide and last night I got the accumalator, hard line going from the evaporator to the accumulator and the water pump off. Tonight I will pull the compressor and start the flush of the system.
So far I have to say.. Not a bad job at this point. But my question is where in the heck is the orifice tube? I looked down both sides of the hard line and cant find it in there. Is it somehwere else? in the line that goes into the compressor? I stuck a small screw driver down the hard line tube and felt no resistence.

Thanks for the diagram. I'm guessing I am not looking in the right place I will find it tonight.
I have this line off, and it isnt in here. Wrong line?
That's the correct line. It's inside the tube that connects the two lines together. From the picture it's the end on the left down inside where it flare out about 3-4 inches.

'99 was the split, or "changeover" year. '97 to E99 had it in one line and L99 and up had it the other AND the orifice tubes themselves are slightly different.
Either way, you're still unbolting the same fastener where the two lines come together to get access. Just get the orifice tube listed for your year. For '99 buy 2 and return the one you don't use. I think they say either "yellow" or "white".
