I have looked around on here and Im trying to figure out where my oil leak is coming from. Is there a common spot where oil will drip on long tube headers? I heard maybe the oil pressure senor can leak down the bell housing and on headers. Im getting a good bit of smoke from oil dripping on the headers after I give the car wide open throttle a few times. Could this come from the oil pan gasket?
Most likely oil pressure sensor located behind the intake, recent post about this was oil leaking on to starter mounting bolts. Get some light and an angled mirror to see if it is leaking, do you have oil pressure reading on gauge? Oil pressure sensor usually fails when they start leaking, hope this helps.
I have been really busy with a new business so I havent had a chance to work on the oil leak. Im positive its not leaking from the oil sensor behind the intake. I thought that too and right after I made the original post I went and took the intake off and there is no oil coming from there at all. Im guessing the oil pan gasket needs to be changed. I can see oil right around the oil pan gasket on the passengers side. I also noticed some oil around the dipstick and where it goes into the block. Does anyone ever have problems with oil leaking from there? I took it off and the o-ring looks like it might have a few tiny spots where it doesnt look quite right. Its really really small though. And yes my oil pressure gauge is reading fine. Is there 2 oil pan gaskets on a 99 vette?
I have been reading and I think I have an idea. I think there is a little bit of oil coming from the oil dipstick. Im going to try and buy a new o-ring for it and see what that does.
