Torque tube rebuild problems --> HELP!
I've just taken the car apart to do a clutch and a few other things this weekend, and among them was to replace the torque tube couplers with a billet one in the rear and a rubber one up front... The original couplers we took out were a little torn up, but not too bad. And just now we've just finished putting this assembly back together and we noticed that when we spin the shaft it "see saws" into a certain position like it's off balance... I'm not sure if this is normal, but I'm wondering what to really do as I can't find any info on this topic.
The best part is that I need this car to run by next weekend to make a caravan trip from Indy with 20 people to Deals Gap...
and it would be nice to figure out how to try to repair it ASAP... Any help would be much appreciated.-Adrian
Of couse you want to make sure every thing is right when you put things back into your car.
Your so very close to RPM Transmission there in Anderson.
I'd be on the horn, first thing in the morning & possibly see if I could take the T/tube etc there to have them take a look see of what you have going on.
Heck your only a little over a half hour away.
Their number is 1 800 406 1109.
Sorry I'm of no help, but you sure want to make things are right before reinstall. That's alot of labor you have goiung on there, not to mention the $bucks$.
Good luck, & enjoy your trip without worries.
Peter

BTW, I checked visual runout using my eyes and the input shaft appears to be ok.. no real noticeable out of roundness, but then again I can't see more than a few thousanths of an inch anyways.
Thanks all for the help! I'll fill everyone in on the status.
