Hey guys, was drag racing today at Capital Raceway in MD.4th run went for 2nd gear and something broke shifter just flops around.Luckily for me trans stuck in 2nd gear.So I drove it home pulled apart down to the shifter. The shifter is fine and still moves the shift rod like it's supposed to but you can hear it flopping around back at the end of the tourque tube.Is it possible the roll pin that holds the rod to the trans. broke? Is this a common problem (weak link)?I guess I'll have to pull the rear and tranny out to fix,Not looking forward to doing that. Thanks in advance for any help.BTW its a 98 mn6 obviously!
Check out my thread. I had 2 pins fall out of the shift rod into the transmission. So you'll have to pull the transmission like I did. I might have to buy a new shift rod or have it welded. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ic-inside.html
Thanks,Almost looks like a u-joint.Did you pull your entire driveline out or just the rear and tranny? I was reading some have done both ways with success.

I pulled the transmission with the rear diff and left the torque tube connected to the car.
Pulled the tranny out,The factory weld that connects the u-joint to the linkage at the back broke.**** Poor weld ,no penetration.I can't believe it never broke before this. All this work for someone that didn't care to do their job rite

Hey, there's a rubber sleve that slides over that u-joint on mine, that should keep the pins from falling out.Is yours missing?
