Default 98 c5 crank pulley problems=\

ive searched and seen hits for a "wobbly" crank pulley. or even some coming off.... my problem is my crank pulley seems to have mysteriously recessed its self back to the engine to far...... everything lines up perfect but the crank pulley. it looks like its in to far and after you install a belt on it. it instantly walks until you have only 2 ribs holding onto the crank.. does this call for a new pulley install? it totally confuses me on how it could have got pushed in to far.....
thanks.

Yep, there was a thread on this last month..and yes, it has to be replaced. If indeed has walked back....stop driving it....or you'll be replacing the timing cover too.

It certianlly sounds like the elastomer rubber that holds the dampner togeather has gone bad. That whole thing could keep walking back, if it contacts the cam cover it has the potential to do some SERIOUS damage.

I'd get that replace ASAP. A lot of guys saw it for a powerbond 25% underdrive.
