I have a 2000 with an auto tranny and from first to second it has delay shifting. It takes an 1000-1500 more rpm before it shifts. So its around 3000-3500 before it shifts. Any ideas

If it just started happening that doesn't sound good---Doesn't seem tune related-- I would get the trans and filter changed--have them remove the trans pan and see if there is a lot of debris or metal in there---Some powder on the bottom of the pan is just normal wear--your trans shop can tell if a larger problem exists--- If all that look fine----many times as a tans wears or the miles ad up--you may need to re-adjust some of the trans tables--most importantly the "force motor current tables " ( high and low)-- these tables command how long the solenoids react at a shift change--Smaller #'s here will firm up the shifts
If you recently had the battery didconnected or the battery went way low on voltage--You may have re-set the ECM to "learn out " again-- this takes about 50-75 miles of driving--Mostly only affects the engine--But if the engine load values and vacuum signals haven't settled down--it could affect the shifting as well--TQ load is directly connected in setting the Line pressure of the trans
