Default Need tire help Please.

I am running 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear on my C5, I am having a hard time finding tires to replace the 265-35-18 front and 295-35-18 rear, If you are running 18 inch front and rear what size tires are you running? The tires on my car now are BF Goodrich G-Force KD, I think they are about the forst gen tires. I only find about 3 different tires in that size and none of them appeal to me.
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

True! Im running Michellin Pilot Sports up front and Toyo Proxes T1R in back. The tread design is very similar and I feel no ill effects.

I'd run mismatched tires.

I was told that the T1R Proxes are a very soft tire and can ware out in 10K miles?

Would I have TC/AH issues with a 265-35-18 front and a 285-35-18 rear? What might be the tread width difference between the 285 and a 295?
Thanks.

George, tirerack and discount tire have great technical specs. charts that give you all the diameters for each size and brand...as long as you have a delta similar to the stock ratio you will be good...no TC issues.

They have a treadwear value of 280 which is on the softer side. That said, I bought mine used off the forum last June. Ive put about 3000 miles on them since. They probably have around 5000 total on them now and they look close to new still. There is a slight bit of inner shoulder wear but thats pretty normal with Z06 alignment specs. I love taking fast turns through the mountain twisties around here and Id be lying if I said I didnt do a burnout or 2 on them. Theyre very good in wet conditions as well.

BTW, 275 for the front is another option.

Well so far I have it down to 2 sets, The General Excaim UHP or the BF Goodrich KDW2, The KDW2 tread look like it might be a bit noisey.

Had them on my BMW 740il & I hated them with a passion for the noise factor...

not my experience, I ran the 17" and 18" stock sizes on my Z06 for 20k miles, then sold the wheels/tires with around 8/32" left on the tires (measured them with a depth gauge)

great in the wet, but due to the large tread void area, not all that sticky in the dry

a quality tire IMHO, and around 3/4 the price of Michelin PS in the same size

Nitto INVO in a 265-35-18 is 25.28" In diameter, tread width is 10.39"
295-35-18 is 26.02" in diameter and tread width is 11.54" (they don't list a 285-35-18 in the INVO, but a Nitto NT555 in 285-35-18 is 11.42" wide)

I have Michelin PS2's in 265/35 and 295/35 18's. They have been great and decent mileage too. However they are a little pricey and I need to replace them real soon. I was considering Nitto Invo's in the same sizes but recently I've heard nothing but positives about the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas from several people on the forum. In a German magazine they were compared with seven other hi-perf tires including PS2's and they were rated #1. Additionally they are the least expensive tire I could find, price being a consideration this time. They are close to $600 cheaper than the same size Michelins. That's a serious difference. If interested try Group A wheels.

According to their web site, those sizes are available in the Nitto Envo series tires, I got them, (different sizes) and I love the way they ride, handle and perform. I couldn't comment on the wear however, I have only had them for about 5000 miles, but so far so good.

Good Luck!
