Default Lowering questions....

In some previous posts I have seen references to lowering a C5 simply by adjusting some bolts.
1) Am I correct to assume that these are stock bolts?
2) If so, what bolts (front & back) are we talking abut here?

I just need more details...

Thanks, Thom

1) Yes the bolts that you need to adjust are stock
2) You can do a search on lowering here on the forum and check out other discussion threads on the topic.

You should be able to get anywhere from 1/2" to 1" lower on the front and rear. Make sure you let the suspension settle before assessing how much drop you got. If you want to go lower after adjusting the stock bolts, you will have to cut bushings in the front and replace the bolts with longer ones in the rear. Also - don't forget to get the alignment checked after about a week of driving.

I just lowered mine with the stock bolts last weekend. Let me know if you have any other questions about how to do it.

Here is a picture of mine after lowering:

Redhot, I've heard some say that there is no diff in ride quality and some say a lot. Mine is a daily driver and I don't want to get beat up on the way to work. How is your ride quality?

Ive read the tech tip section on lowering and that says to cut somethings.....can someone who has done this write out a list for me on how to lower the car withough cutting anything?

I would really appreciate it....also list the tools needed and if the car needs to be jacked up, how many turns to do to the bolts, etc.

Thanks

Thanks to those who have responded. I did a search and have all the "directions" I need. I still don't know which bolts are the topic of discussion. I assume they will be obvious next time I take a good look under there...

Thanks again guys!

You can't miss them, one in each corner, runs right up through the spring, back is very easy, you can expect about an 1", front is a lttle more difficult, you will need a 10mm 6 point socket, and some WD-40 on the adjuster helps, and you can expect about 3/4" in the front, very easy job, can be done in less than an hour. Whatever you do, if you want to go lower, do not cut the rear bushings, just buy longer bolts, this will give you more threads to play with, you may have to cut a layer off on the front to match the back. You will hardly even notice a difference in ride, mine is as low as you can go, and is a little stiff, but its the Bilstien shocks that stiffen it up.
