Default ride height measurements

where exactly on the frame do you guys measure when looking at the ride height? Im assuming the front and rear cradle but wanted to make sure before I try fine tuning the ride height before taking it in for an alignment.

Thanks

A while back I asked a similar question. The best answer I received was that lacking the special tools and an alignment rack to measure it as they do at the factory, that I could use the distance from the ground to the 4 jacking points. It was estimated that a stock C5 will be approx 5.25” at the front points and 5.75” at the rear points. If you comply with the advice to not lower the car more than ¾” all around then that puts you at 4.5” in the front and 5.0” in the rear, maintaining the same 1/2” rake as stock and keeping you from bottoming out your shocks (if stock) or messing up any aerodynamics as engineered. Hope this helps.

This isn't rocket science guys, and no special tools are required(unless you consider a tape measure, pad of paper, and a pen.......special tools. It's all covered in the service manual.

It is kind of difficult to get an accurate measurement with a tape under the car. Here's $0.79 worth of hardware store parts that make it a lot easier and more accurate.

Thats what I figured....my only concern was that Ive got those frame savers with the integrated jacking pucks, and while they mounted relatively flush, they arent perfect and Im hesitant to pull a measurement off of them.

Any chance you could help us out and narrow it down to a section or even a volume of the service manual? I read through all of the indexes in mine, and Im not claiming its not there, I just didnt see anything that looked like it addressed how to measure ride height. Thanks for the help

The hardest part of measuring is finding a somewhat level piece of concrete to measure on. Been some funny threads on people posting ridiculous numbers side to side fighting and bitching chasing adjustments then look at the floor they are on.
