Every once in a while my turn signels wont work. Then after a while they will work, Ive checked the fuse, I recently had the steering column lock fixed, could there be a problem in the turn signal switch its self, I have thought about a fuseable overheating but dont know where it could be. Thanks
I just had the same problem. Sometimes, the turn signals will not work. After a while, they might work again, etc. I think your problem is the "Hazard Warning Switch" just to the left of the center dash air vent. Test it the old fashioned way - the next time the turn signals don't work, activate the hazard flashers for a few seconds. Then try your turn signal. They should work again.
This $35 part controls the flashing of the turn signals, the hazard flashers, and, according to some Forum people who helped me with this problem, also controls some other lighting functions. They advised me to take care of it soon because other lighting problems would crop up soon.
The only problem is getting to the switch. It is buried in the dash, unlike the $2 flasher under the dash that I grew up with. Because I was lazy, and my back does not take kindly to crawling around car interiors, I had a dealership do it.
