Another Problem! Check engine, stall, low oil pressure
It's been a nightmare since pulling my 01 C5 Z06 out of storage with 60XXX miles on it. I will be searching for answers but need some help also. This prevented me from going to work this morning....
History:
Pulled the car out of storage last week
Intermittent issues with turn signals - have a solution in mind
Passenger side window stuck -have a solution in mind
HVAC display working intermittently - could care less about right now
Replaced OEM exhaust with Borla Stingers last week
Replaced Borlas with B&B Bullets this past Saturday
Fast Forward to last night:
Driving home, twice in a 5 min span the car seemed to hesitate on me, almost like it was going to stall, thought it was my traction control kicking in, lights on the dash flickered to quick on and off for me to determine what it was. Didnt give it any thought, parked the car.
Woke up this morn, started up the car, let it warm up a it and the car wanted to stall twice as it was warming up at idle, it didnt stall but the motor sounded like it was going to cut out. Drove about 1mile down the road and the car wanted to cut out about 3-4 times. Here's what happened:
Driving along, car bogs, check engine light comes on for a split second - I believe the shift up light also kicks on at the same time for a split second. Oil pressure drops to about 20, Both lights go out, oil pressure comes up, car has restored power. Drive down the street a little more, same thing happens. Drive a little more, same thing happens only this time "Low Oil Pressure" is displayed in the info centre. Come home, check the oil level, its fine. Restart the car, go for a quick drive all seems ok, jump on the hwy, then the problem rears its ugly head again this time at 60MPH and the car just didnt feel safe to drive at that speed with this problem so I've parked it for the day.
Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on? Any ideas? I know there may be discussions on this already, I will be searching as I anticipate responses but please, any direction, advice or info is really appreciated.
Don't sweat the oil pressure. That's just normal when the engine almost dies cause the oil pump only works up pressure when the engine is running normal RPM's.
As too the other troubles about stalling out You mentioned being in storage so I'd run some seafoam through it, check the battery grounds, pull the DIC codes and see whats up.

Yeah, I'm not worried about the oil pressure since I know it has oil, it was running really well last week, mechanically anyways. Battery seems ok, at least connections to the terminals.
will do. Oddly enough yesterday, after my coffee run I decided to take it for a drive to go see a customer about 15 mins away. Not a single problem. Decided to go back to the office about another 20 mins down the hwy. not a problem. drove back home, a half hr trip of mix city and hwy and no problems. I'll be clearing the codes this morning and will be monitoring it closely. <Keeps Fingers Crossed>
^thank you kind sir. Been driving the car quite a bit the past 2 days and absolutely zero problems. Even the turn signals and HVAC display have been working perfectly. You may be right, bad ground somewhere affecting a bunch of stuff. I will do some digging under the hood this weekend.
Well I never seemed to find any loose grounds, doesnt mean one might not exist, I just cant seem to find it if it does but since my last post the car had not given me a single problem.
However, I am getting less fuel economy than I had been in the past. About 50miles or so less per tank than last year before putting it a way. the car has roughly 65kmiles (108,000kms). thinking perhaps a tune up would be in order? Not sure if the previous owner ever change plugs etc..., this is my second summer with the car. anyone have similar issues with loss of fuel economy?
