What year?

Yes, running out of fuel will heat the pump up and can cause pump failure. Especially if you continue to try and start it.

If it is an automatic, you are in for a real adventure in car service.

If it is a stick, not too bad (took me a few days).

However, the tool for removing & installing the locking ring on the fuel pump will run you about $125.00

Fuel tank needs to be dropped out of the car. I had my '04 vert pump replaced under warranty. It kept blowing fuses after heating up.The dealer charged 1890.00 to do it. 0.00 to me.

This.

Dealership told me my pump went out and wanted $1200 to replace it. No way in hell I was going to pay that much for a $300 part, so I did it myself. Still didnt work. Turned out it was a bad ground to the relay. Piece of wire later, never had a problem with it again (well, until the computer decided it didn't want to control it anymore...

)

There is still a pothole in the parking lot where the gas overspilled

havent done nothing yet trying to find out thing to check drove it to work filled up drove home pulled it in my shop got up next to go to work and wouldnt start
