Ok just to start off the car has the service TCS/ABS/Active warning lights on. I couldn't care less if that crap worked but it does currently present a problem. I can only turn the traction control off if I reset all TCS DTCs and then turn it off via the button.
Again this isn't that big of a deal but when I do if I try to launch the TCS does something to the brakes to make the car bog from hell. If I don't turn the TCS off the car will launch correctly but it won't let me do a burnout. It'll rev up to around 1900 and just sit there. This is a gigantic problem as I can't do a burnout and launch correctly at the drag strip.
Yesterday I pulled fuses #5(ABS/RTD) and #53(ABS ELEC) and it would launch properly but since I had no communication with the TCS it wouldn't let me do a burnout. I tried just having one or the other in and it didn't matter, without either fuse the car would launch but wouldn't let me burnout.
Also fuse #52(ABS, the 40amp one) keeps blowing, wondering what would cause that and if it could be the root of the problem because the TCS used to work properly a while back but now that fuse blows.
Your EBTCM/BMPV are having issues as well as the steering wheel position sensor. Those codes are going to cause you problems till they are repaired which means you'll need to reset them each time to start up, then shut down the TCS/AH. What's happening is you are trying to defeat a major safety system that's built into the car and the car's programming. I would imagine there's a way with software to tune these things out but I've never heard of anyone doing it. Maybe someone else in here will have an idea of how to defeat these without going that route so here's a TTT for you.
Frankly I've got no idea what would happen other than you will be having codes and you might have the traction control problems still. You can disconnect its connector without extracting it to see what happens.

The active TCS codes are C1217 and C1287.
It can turn into one fast.
C1287 is likely the Steering Wheel Position Sensor going bad and sending incorrect information to your EBCM. That's why ABS and TCS starts shutting down and limiting the power. The reason I mention it could go bad fast is the bad SWPS data will fool your EBCM into thinking your car is in a spin and start putting on various (individual corner) brakes. It yanked me into another lane on the freeway.
If your interested in fixing it the part is ~$80, labor was ~$240.

Hope that helps
Wow, thanks for giving me the heads up. I'll probably pull the EBCM out sometime this week and then work my way from there.
Update: Disconnected the harness for the EBCM and my power steering isn't power steering anymore. On top of that it didn't even fix the problem, I still can't do a burnout.

Ok another question. I've searched and searched through all the ECBM removal guides and all that and I have to ask why the hell is mine different from every picture I've seen? Below is a picture of the harness, it's completely different from every picture I've seen, even the shape of what I "assume" is the EBCM is different. You'd think if the 2000 was that different people would have said something....
Well upon even further investigation I guess the 2000 and below have a different harness after all. What I want to know is why the hell is something still stopping the car from burning out if the thing is disconnected. It's not in the tune I went over all possible TCS/TM related issues in it.

I'm pretty sure you need a working EBCM for the car's ECU to run properly. There's a company that fixes them mail-order. I can't remember the name but just search for EBCM fix.
