I took my 04 to the dealer to get the Heads Up Display replaced (body shop arranged as they damaged during repair of bezels). The dealer, I mean Stealer said I needed a battery so I had them replace it. They said when they put the new battery in in the the ABS/Traction Control light came on and the EBCM unit went bad due to the low voltage. They wanted to charge me $985, I told them to put it back together and I'll deal with it! Is this accurate or am I seeing the unfortunate reputation of a dealer's poor service (stealing) coming through?

My friend. DO NOT TAKE THE BAIT!! I removed my ECBM myself and sent it to the ABSfixer. Very easy DIY. You can remove the ECBM, still drive your car while your ECBM is getting repaired. I paid $150 for the repair 3 years ago and no issues. The turn around time was about one week. You can get the removal instructions on the ABSfixer website and on this forum as well. The removal should take btwn 45-60 min. Lots of corvetters on this forum have had the same problem and used this solution. This is probably the most common problem with C5s.

Make sure the battery has a full charge, clear the codes from the DIC and I bet you'll be OK.
Thank you. The battery is new and fully charged. Can I clear the codes myself (without special equipment) or do I need to take it somewhere where they have the computer diagnostic equipment?
