I just had my 2002 Coupe dynoed again on Saturday - this time with a cut lid and a K&N panel filter and made the numbers in my sig. My previous were 313.4 rwhp & 333 rwtq stock @ 2,400 miles.
Because of work on the house and my project car, I don't have much of a budget for modding the vette. But if things like an air bridge or cat-back will make much of a difference then I'd consider it. Does anyone have before & after dyno graphs from those mods? Also, would removing the screen on my MAF be a good idea?
Thanks in advance.
BTW, if anyone is interested in seeing a before & after for the cut lid and K&N filter on my car, here it is:
Replacement exhausts seem to be worth only a few horses on a mostly stock C5.
There are differing opinions on the effect of removing the MAF screen. It acts as an air straightener so that it flows smoothly over the sensors. Some people have seen a noticeable improvement removing it, others none and a few with a rougher running engine. MHO is leave it alone and (if you want to try no screen) buy another MAF and take the screen out of that one so you have a fall back .
If you want a low dollar mod, then you probably have wasted your money on the panel K&N and should have gone Pro-Flow or Vortex .
You could probably go to a lower thermostat and adjust the fan cut in lower for a few more ponies.
There are really not a lot of cheap horsepower adders.
We took the LGCC to the dyno a few weekends ago, what we learned most was that most people didn't have a good air/fuel ratio. Breathing is real important, and it looks like your on the right track. I'm one who removed my maf screen. Once it's in you hand you can see just how restrictive it is, for me it was a good mod.
George
The next mod should be the exhaust. If you want to "feel" the mod then go with the TPIS headers and off road x-pipe and Corsa Indy's. Should be good for at least another 20 RWHP and 15 lbs.RWT...:D
I would probably go with LT headers next as well. Remember, the '03 Cobra is going to be out soon, and you don't want to lose to it(j/k) :jester Actually, I think headers would give you more of a gain than an aftermarket exhaust. Your kinda at the point where mods start to become expensive. I don't think the air bridge is worth the money with the mods you have. Good luck.
Thanks for the inputs  I am friends with a guy who is friends with Steve Cole @ TTS. I might try to pull on that thread and see if I could work out a decent deal for a set of his long tubes. What's the going rate for a set installed?
As for the LS6 intake manifold, I was under the impression that the 2002 LS1 and LS6 used the same manifold, it was the heads and cam that are different. Is this not the case?
As for the K&N panel filter, I am planning on getting a Blackwing or maybe a Haltech in the future, but I already had a dyno date scheduled and had done a stock baseline back in January. I figured I might as well see what difference a cut lid and K&N would make.
