:confused:It looks like the passenger window motor has given up the ghost on my '99 hardtop, luckily though the window is up. (As usual, its only just out of warranty). I just get a slight clicking sound when the door switches are pressed. Does anyone know if there are any recalls/repair bulletins for this problem? Alternatively are there any suggestions for a cheap repair or replacement?
I have the exact same problem on my 99 HT. I had it once before and it suddenly started working again. This time its still stuck.
The window motor is drawing lots of power when I hit the down button, It just clicks but the voltage goes down and the lights dim like its trying to go down but its the window thats stuck.
Any tips on how to correct this problem without a dealer visit?
Thanks
Mike
My passenger window motor has gone out about 5 times. Might as well get used to it.
I hate to think I will have to get used to this defect. I had the same problem with my 94 Z28. On the passenger side... You might think the General would get their act together and fix this crap already. It's what seperates these cars from the likes of BMW, Lexus..etc.

The dealer fix is to replace the "regulator" i.e. motor. After that, you need to remember to open and close the window a few times each week because they go bad from disuse - that's why 98% of the time it is the passenger window that goes bad. If you are feeling lucky ("well, are you" - Dirty Harry) some folks have had success by getting into the door and cleaning off the connectors to the window motor.

Re: '99 Window motor not working (allanlaw)
I had the same problem on my '98 (passenger side ) and shut the passenger door hard (not exactly a slam, but almost ! :D) while holding the button and it started working again and been fine since (almost a year)! I would recommend exercising the window at least once or twice a month to keep the contacts somewhat fresh....good luck !

Thanks for the tip Jd3.
I held the door window switch as I closed the door and hey presto, the window started working again. I will make sure that i use the window at least once a week from now on. The info received here at the Corvette Forum has saved me the expense of replacing the motor. :D :)
The passanger window in my 99 Coupe has started giving me trouble this past weekend. I kept playing with it, and it started to work. I guess I need to put the windows down at least once a week from now on.
Had the same problem w/ my '01 coupe. Used the "pop it with the palm of your hand above the Bose speaker with the swithch engaged trick" (you know it well don't you?). After several "pops" it did work. Hasn't happened since, but I make it a point to lower and raise both windows every day - will probably wear out the motors before the windows stick again.
Same problem here on my 99 FRC. Motor has been replaced once. Last week the passenger window would not work. Yesterday, my wife and i were out in the car and she lowered the window. I've tried it several times after that and it works fine. Guess her closing the door started it working again.
I really doubt that lack of use has anything to do with it. When you press the button to open the cover to stow the cloth top under on a vert, BOTH windows automatically go down. That's the only time either of my windows are ever down.
*My* passenger window quit working too. What I'm trying to say is my passenger window is not used less than my driver's side window.
Wow that is a good tip to remember. I had my passenger side window motor go out on me last October and fortunatly it was still covered under warrenty. But still I did not appreciate them tearing everything apart to fix it.
I had the problem on my 98, took it apart a few times and got it to work for a few days. just got tired and ordered one from the dealer 250.00 i installed it myself, really not to hard to do, works fine now...jerryk :yesnod:
