looking to buy manual tranny C5 or Z06,is there any master or slave cylinders issues with C5 vettes?
cause that was a real pain for me in my camaro z28 even after replacing the master cylinder with ram racing clutch & the slave cylinder with GMPP slave, the problem still when driving aggressive. the clutch pedal stick down at the floor.
after i sold the Z28 i was looking for GTOs, but the owners said they also got this problem so i want to ask now the vettes guys.
Yes its a problem. It would stick To floor for me but I had 100k miles and I did clutch and its strongly recommended to do slave and master when doing clutch. I just put stock pieces in and am doing fine with 20k miles on the parts. Stock z06 slave and tick master is the best
My understanding is that this is caused by dirt/grime/nasty stuff in the fluid. There is do way to flush the sytem from the factory (doh!). The easiest thing to do until you have the problem is to siphon the fuild out of the clutch master and replace it with fresh fuild several times to remove as much as you can. Then keep that up when you see it getting nasty looking. Hopefully that carries you till you need (or want) a clutch. Then you can add a hose when the clutch is out so you can change the fluid as needed later on.

Yes its an issue.
I have kept my fluid crystal clean for years and my pedal still feels very "mushy" after a hard 1-2-3-4 run. Its looking like a Monster clutch for me soon just cause I'm having my tranny rebuilt too. Might as well swap the clutch too while its all apart. Also putting in a remote clutch bleeder. I hear its important since you have everything apart anyway.

Don't fret too much - but then I do not race my car..
I have had my 04 Z06 for 7 years (since new). Weekend cruiser only. 20.5K miles on it now. I have been doing the Ranger method for 6 years. It was dark in color when I first did the Ranger method and took a few weeks of cycling new fluid in there to get it clear. Since then I have kept my fluid crystal clear. Sticky clutch pedal issue started a year ago though... . If I cycle a whole bottle of new fluid in there its good for 50-100 miles then the issue comes back . My tuner says its something about the pressure plate. Maybe it has something to do with my added HP (525HP flywheel) ? I dunno for sure.
The clutch and pedal issues from my understanding are related to stock components. I sure wouldn't miss out on owning a Z because of a fear of the clutch or a little pedal sticking. If you're that worried about it buy a Z with a Tick and after market clutch already installed.
For what it's worth I was having sticky pedal issues and decided to go ahead and install a new clutch. I didn't change out the master and I have had zero issues since the change. These cars are a riot and I sure wouldn't let a little clutch issue scare me away.
Good luck!
Do not get a Borg Warner transmission normally found in '97s and '98's...a few '99's. Go with a Tremec or a custom build from someone like RPM Transmissions depending on the application use you plan on.
FWIW I have not had a problem with a sticky clutch pedal in my 02 since I have had it and it has almost 102k on it now with the original clutch and all. Now I havent had a chance to take it out on a track yet but it has seen a few hard launches and shifts without a problem.

I strongly recommend just going ahead and installing a Tick M/C, otherwise, you are just rolling the dice. I too tried the "Ranger" method, over, and over, and over, and.......well, you get the idea. No success. Frankly, I hope I never SEE another turkey baster again.
Will theTick increase pedal pressure? Sure. Can you get over it since it's not some sort of mega-increase in pressure? Sure. I've gotten used to it now and hardly notice.
