I purchased and installed the Column Lock Bypass kit from Corvettes of Houston a couple years ago to replace the factory band aid (the K Harness) that didn’t work. Since then the car worked without any problems. Until 3 weeks ago.
A few weeks ago, I ran into Carl’s Jr to grab a breakfast burrito. When I can back out to my car, the starter wouldn’t turn. Along with that, the windows, radio and A/C controls also failed to work. I then pulled the BCM and plugged it back in. Everything worked fine and I was able to drive the car for a few more days.
4 days later, I get the “Pull Key, Wait 10 Seconds” warning and now the fuel cuts off after the 2 mph thing. I reset the module from Corvettes of Houston without any change. I then reconnected the factory plug and still nothing. I then pulled the BCM again and reconnected it. Still nothing.
I called Corvettes of Houston and they told me that the problem was the BCM. I don’t want to pay bank for a new one if this isn’t the problem.

HELP!!!
You need to pull and post the codes. BCM would be last on the list. Here is the link:
My guess is the ignition lock is having issues reading your resistor pellet on the key.
Good Call!
and I thought of trying my spare key. I'll give that a shot when I get home tonight. If that doesn't do the trick, I'll have to check into the plastic ring thing that sits around the ignition switch that reads the resistor.
Finally had time to work on my car. I was able to pull some codes. They are all history.
B0605 H - BCM Internal Memory Malfunction
B0507 H - LH DRL Relay Circuit
B2587 H - Column Lock/Unlock Drive A
B2592 H - Column Lock/Unlock Drive B
B2723 H - PAS-Key Detection Circuit
B3091 H - Content theft system sensor (Shock/Intrusion/etc.) signal circuit low
Now I did attempt to try to start the vehicle with the resistor sensor disconnected to try to troubleshoot. All this did was prevent the starter from engaging.
I also tried to run the vehicle with the column lock bypass removed and the original wires connected the way it came from the dealer.

I don't think I'm making any progress :/
Did you use the DTC to pull the codes, because I have no information for a B3091 . The B0605 is a bad sign that the BCM is on it's way out. The B2723 tells you, there is a problem with the key pellet, lock cylinder, wiring, or BCM. Has this BCM ever been exposed to moisture before?

I found that B3091 code on one of the forum post.
I did notice that the passenger side had a couple drops of water drip but not enough to make the carpet feel wet to the touch but I guess it could have gotten wet since there was some signs.

Before you replace the BCM here is something to check.
Your profle doesn't indicate and your posts don't say but I will guess this is an automatic trans car.
In the passenger footwell there is a relay to the left of the fuse box and above the BCM. It should have 1 white, 1 green and 2 orange wires. It's the Column Lock relay. Pull the head off the relay and look into the end of the head that has the pins. Your looking for any indication of water infiltration. White corrosion, water stains etc.
Since there was some indication of moisture on the carpet, the water most likely came from above and may well have gotten into the CL relay. It hangs upside down and if water did get inside it the relay is likely toast. I'd test the relay and replace it (about $20) if need be before I spent many hundreds on a BCM.
Good luck with your problem.
Thanks for the ray of hope. I will check into it this evening. I am very familiar with relays so I shouldn't have any problems testing it. And you are correct in guessing it's an AT.

Got my fingers crossed
There is a difference between a "ray of hope", and viewing the situation through rose colored glasses....
An internal memory problem within the BCM has nothing to do with the column lock relay. Sorry.
I just went thru this on my 98 C5 and with Bill Curlee's help and Lucky I found a bad pin on the key reader conector under the dash. I got the 10 sec pull light due to the resistance chamnging everytime you put the key in. Sometimes the starter would not engage and when it did I got the 10 sec pull. look at my posting and Bill's last explanation on my posting of No start 127,000 miles. Good luck I had every code you could think of due to BCM trying to read key and then trying to learn all the different resistance codes.

Thanks Don8585, I will check out your posting. Hopefully it'll fix the problem I am having.
OK, I finally had some time to take a look at my car again. I tested the resistance on the pellet and at the wire plug and they are both reading the same values.
Really looking like it's gonna be the BCM. Not looking forward to that bill.

As stupid as it sounds, LOOK forward to the bill as this means you FOUND one. They can be a little tough to find a good used one and new are non existant.
