What do I need for an 11 sec car? Do I need swingouts/harnesses? Where would be a good place to have one done? I would think the closest place would be Texas... Speedworks maybe? Also how much willl one cost roughly, and how long to install?
Yes a 11 sec bar needs to be at least 5-points. If they are welded, bolted, or swing outs is your choice. LGM did a great install for me in my hardtop.
There are other factors to consider also when getting a cage built to NHRA Specs:
1. must be made from .120 wall steel or .080 chromoly.
2. Must be at least 5 point.
3. door bar is supposed to cross between your shoulder and elbow.
4. rear loop is 6" from helmet when driver is seated.
I would check the NHRA site for the official rules.
I have gotten quotes for a cage in the $1200-$2000.00 range. I have no idea why cause the mustangs can get a cage installed for 300.00
Someone needs to make a template and do a production run for a 6 point with swingouts. They would make a fortune.

that would be great if someone would come out with a reasonably priced ready to install roll bar. Oh, uhhhh, wait a second, all aftermarket equipment for Corvettes are overpriced so I don't think that would be a viable solution

You need to drop the gas tank to weld in the roll bar!
A big job for a novice......
Your roll bar install looks great :yesnod: How is it mounted in the foot well ? Have you cut a hole to get to the frame and welded the mounting point ?
Bill, could you e-mail me some more pics? I'd like to take a closer look and your pics scroll through too fast for anything more than a glance :smash: Also if you don't mind me asking how much did it cost installed and how long did it take? I'm strongly considering Speedworks (since they aren't that far from my sisters and I could just crash at her house while it is getting done) if I do decide to get one installed and would like to know how much to save
