Default Thoughts on wheel spacers

My rear tires are rubbing very slightly on the inside of the wheel well going over bumps with the lowered stance on the LG coil overs and wider 305/35/18 tires so Im thinking about using a 1/8 or 1/4 inch spacer on the rears. Any safety concerns with wheel spacers? Any preferred brands?

Thanks

I just purchased these from DRM. I got the 3/8 and the 1/2 longer studs. the customer service and the quality in their work is what sold me. I am looking for them to arrive today UPS.

I went to 19 inch on my rear with 305's I had to add a 1/4 inch spacer for the same problem.4,000 miles and raced weekly with no problems.I do put a torque wrench on them about once a month just to be safe.

These spacers that I linked to are hub centric and carry a tolerence of .0005 that 1/2 a thousandth. pretty tight. Randy at DRM explained to me that they do not make a 1/2 spacer because the hub centric on the OEM hub is 1/2. Thus is why the go from 3/8 to 5/8. The 5/8 spacers are machined with the centric into them. They are also $239.00 He also said that you do not need the longer studs with the 1/4 spacers. I did by using the 3/8 I lost 1/8 thread length.

I bought the Mr. Gasket 5/16" universals you find at most parts stores to use on my GTO while I had it. Then I transferred them over to the vette when I traded. Have had no problems with them throwing anything out of balance or any issues with them trying to back the lugs off. I kept the stock studs.

We offer a set of 1/8" wheel spacers as well. They are anodized black for extra durability and longevity, and are hubcentric for ease of installation. Sounds like if the OP is barely rubbing, and has a little space between tire and fender, the 1/8" spacers are going to take care of his issues!

You can find more information on our spacers here: Pfadt 1/8" Wheel Spacers

Let us know if we can do anything for you!

personally I would stay under 1/4 inch with stock studs. I run spacers on all four corners without any issues. All my miles are done on the track and I do check the torque after each track session.

Question, could two quarter in spacers be used without any problems if desired?

I actually was thinking about using two 1/8 in spacers if I wanted to equal .25 in.

I use ccw 1/4" spacers on my drag race wheels (18x11.5 ccw classics). I get around 7 turns on them til they're tight, and so far they're fine. I only use them for drag racing, and I'm not sure I'd want to run them w/o longer studs for everyday usage.

Any downsides to using a 1/4 to 1/8 spacer in the rear?

Randy and his father are number one people to work with. I have purchased a number of their products-all first class quality and workmanship. I bought their 5/8" spacers and hi-tensile studs for the front of the vert when I put the big brakes on.
