Air tubes and cats
If I was you I would wait and save up the money for longtubes if you want to get some more power and a better sound out of your car.
and I only had the Vette 2 months before deleting it.

altering the air tubes will prevent the "visual inspection" in most states
But you can disable the AIR system by installing air tube block off plates on your headers which look like just a thick gasket--then just unplug the pigtail from the pump itself--But you'll have to tune out the DTC codes for all the AIR system---The pump only operates briefly when 1st starting the car to heat and light off your cats-But its not a big deal to pass smog--as long as you warm the car well before testing
As far as HP ?? Not a big deal--the pump is electric and there is NO HP loss from leaving it installed
Cats ?? same thing-- depends on your state and whether or not you even have to pass smog--HP ?? Again no a big deal despite what others say--Maybe 5 RWHP-- The stock C5 cats flow very well
Shortys are 50 state smog legal--Good for about 10-15 RWHP with a tune
LT's are NOT smog legal in some states -both visually and emissions wise --as far as HP is concerned--you can gain anywhere from 18-28 RWHP with a tune
Only issue with LT's is that beacuse of the further back 02 bung locations -you will get erroneous 02 readings and your engine will run rich in closed loop or P/T driving--Tuning can help correct this and is a must !!
Bottom line on shortys vs LT's--depends on you goals--and cars's use-
A car with leagl shortys is easier to resale- An easy 12 RWHP gain-LT's will make more HP but may limit your resale to some people-requires more installation and specific tuning
