Driver side doesn't always come up, passenger side OK. No grinding noise so I beleive its not the gears. Payed with twilight a bit turned off and on and drivers side came up after 5 tries.
How should I start to troubleshoot this. I have a 02 C5
try turning the manual **** a good 1/2 to full turn up and then try electrically. my c5z does the same thing on the passenger side. i believe it has to do with the mechanical stops being worn and something about the motor going overtravel. there is an excellent posting in this forum that details all the possibilities with our lights. do some searching before you tear into it. its usually a simple fix

I had the same problem with my drivers side headlight. It was a small portion of the main gear in the headlight motor that was stripped. Mine was not making a grinding noise either. What happens is when the stripped part of the main gear lines up with the worm gear the headlight will not rise. As soon as the stripped portion moves to a different location, the headlight comes up. You need to replace the main gear, or the entire motor if you choose not to rebuild it.
