Default AC not working properly

Blowing cool air but selector not working ( cool air blowing from dash, footwell, windshield ) even when selector is pointed to dash only. Also, same amount of air blowing wether air is on circulate or from outside. Thanks.

I had 2 vacuum lines that were leaking, the first one that i found was behind the manifold where it connected to the coupler, the second one that i found leaking was the red line at the air manifold up behind the glove box, once fixed it works like a dream.

The give away is you can't adjust the air direction. The vacuum line starts at the rear of the intake manifold, works it way through a harness under the battery, to vacuum canister and check valve in passenger fender. From there it heads back up and through the firewall behind the glove box. I had the same problem and it turned out I had a battery leak that ate through the vacuum line.

Default Typical place under battery many posts do a search

Acid eats the line. Baking soda bath then replace deteriorated line and maybe the check valve.

any pics or video as to what to look for would be very helpful. i am not very smart. by the way, car is 1998. the only thing i can remember that i did before this thing happened were:

1. removed air tubes on both sides when i changed the plugs. i remember it getting snagged at something when i was trying to put it back.

2. removed the fan under the glove box to remove some leaves.

please help, it's getting hot here in sunny southern cal. thanks.

japc5 is correct.

Do a "search" because I went through the same thing and there are good photos and "how to's" in this forum. My vacuum tube was so far gone due to battery acid seepage that I gave up and had my (real) mechanic replace the rubber hose.

Pretty simple once you know what you are looking for and it makes a world of difference.
