My power steering went out in me! Just got the car 2004 vert 30,000. I took a big cloverleaf at about 55-60 which in my opinion the car should be able to handle that? Right? Got to a off ramp was about to start my turn and the steering was very stiff. So I pulled over on the side over the road to take a look and no hanging parts or leaks. Got home and loosened the belt and turned the pulley on the pump with my hand, it turned freely. Built ramps to jack the car up to take a look at the rack, looked good no leaks around the boots. Do I need to ohms in the magnasteer? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

So now, assuming home, is the PS still bad? Anything else change? Try pulling your codes to see if something appears related to the magnasteer. Check the connector on it verifying if its still plugged in. After all that, about the only thing left is the pump itself and I've never heard of one failing before.

The car is home on stands. I looked at the codes none. Also the magnasteer is plugged in. I have only had the car for 2 month. I stretched the budget to get it so I don’t want to take it to the stealership. But I just might have to for the full diagnostic with the Gm tech 2. The power steering pump makes no noise and when I removed the belt it turned freely.
