There's a couple of hidden torx head screws. One under the "ashtray", and one over by the in-dash sensor thingie by the key. You have to loosen the dash part before the console will come out. Remember to unplug all of the electronics.
Note that the pic that shows pulling back on the center console trim is the hardest part. In addition to the two pins that are on either side of the radio, there are two tabs at the very top of the trim piece and it's easy to snap them. Insert a small flat blade screwdriver at each end of the top and gently press the screwdriver tip downwards.
It also helps if you remove the two rear nuts that hold the center console. There are two covers at the rear of the console; pop those off and remove the nuts. Raise the back of the console and pull to the rear. That will help with removing the dash trim.
You don't have to remove the knee bolster under the steering column but it does help for reassembly.
The HVAC control unit is held in place by two screws. Note also that some of the screws are Torx and others are metric hex-head screws. 7mm and 10mm.
Thanks to y'all I got it.By far the toughest console removal I've ever done.
I've had 4 different shifters in my car. It takes me about 3 minutes or less, if I'm trying, to remove the console. I have a 6 speed, if that makes a difference.

Mine is a 6 speed but it almost cut my ***.I'm still not sure why.
Thanks to all.
Be glad it isn't the C-6 console...PITA in a major way. C-5's come off easily, well....normally. Two screws under and adjacent to the ash tray, two nuts under the AH/TC control button and two more under the rear of the pocket at the rear. Yes, one more under the cover for the temp sensor close to the ignition key.
