Just got a line on a set of KDWs (stock sizes) for around $100 apiece. They (supposedly) have 9 miles on them when they were changed out for Run Flat Michelins.
I'm sure these are better than the Goodyear F1s that are currently on my c5 but I'm curious how much better?
Anyone have advice?
Thanks!
How is the road noise? I'm not sure of the exact age. I will check em out but how can I be sure of the actual age of the tire?
Noise? I run without mufflers I'm also a Veteran who spent many years in Artillery M109's and Armor M60A3's. I couldn't give a %^%$ about noise cause my hearing isn't great to start with.
But as far as grip and wear, they are fantastic!
Date code is on the sidewall all you do is look for it!

These are a little noisy, but if you're going to these from runflats you won't notice much change. I had them and was pretty pleased with them. I'd probably buy them again.
Yeah I understand as I like the sound of a good exhaust. I am currently running an SLP Powerflo axle back and waiting anxiously for my LT/ORX to ship. The issue is the road noise produced by the GY F1 tires currently on the car. I'm hoping for a reduction in tire noise from these tires.

Mine weren't much quieter than runflats... these have a very aggressive tread pattern.
Generally seven years is the maximum life (at this point you should throw the tire away regardless how many miles are on it), but the performance of the tire drops off shortly at the three and four year mark..
I have read many stories about old tires! Many of us don't drive the cars enough to use up the tires before they get too old. I wouldn't want to drive on tires more than 5 years old.
I had KD's (not KDW's) on my Camaro SS. They were great tires in the dry roads and for one track day. After heat cycling, they were hard as a rock and not good for track days again, but never wore out.
I currently have KDW2's on my 02 Z06. They are a little loud, seem ok in the rain (only got caught once int he rain with them) great in dry weather and I have always had good luck with them.
I am always surprised about the complaints about the F-1 Supercar Tires that came stock. I always felt they were ok on the street and good at the track. A nice compromise.
I assume this is for a street application. Much more to consider in track tires!
Yeah its a street application. I've hummed and hawed a bit too long and missed the deal. I will probably end up burning up the f1s this year and going with an 18/18 rim and tire combo for next summer.
Thanks for all of the comments and advice. I've learned a few things about tires thanks to all of you!
