So I got the typical "service column lock" and "pull key wait 10 secs" and I purchased the bypass. I installed it this evening and still having the same problem. The wheel never actually locks, never did, the display just shows the warning message and car stalls when trying to drive.
I have unhooked bcm for an hour, removed fuses 25 & 29 and reset the battery as the instructions say. Still getting the same problem. Do I need a bcm? If so, where is the best place to get one. My car is for sale, and of course this would happen right now.
Thanks for all the help in advance.
Edit: for clarification, dic was displaying "column lock & pull key wait" warnings when clb was installed.
Just read a thread of people getting their fuel cutoff reprogrammed to 200 MPH, although I also believe that a few people have recieved lemon CLB's too. I recently moved past my column locking issue and the CLB worked as advertised for killing the computers desire to see errors in the lock. Maybe consider trying an additional CLB?? Because ideally the code would not pop up if it was working properly. The BCM could be a next step as well, but looking into either of these may give you some more options.
I imagine the bcm is very expensive, so I'd hate to spend money on a part like that (w/out being 100% sure), which is likely non refundable. I barely ever drive this car, and as soon as I have it sold, this happens.
Yeah, it's not very cheap... but I still think it's a possibility the CLB may need to be changed again. It may have been shorted or something crazy. I don't want to say that 'hopefully' that's the case, but it would be the least expensive I think. I don't have much else for suggestions, just wanna help.
Was the recall performed by GM on your car? If so, you need to remove the spliced in relay they put in. It's not the K harness as in older cars. It is spliced into a purple wire in (or near) you BCM. If it is still in place, it will cause issues.

The price is the least of the worries in finding a BCM for most C5's. No new stuff available and a good used one can be a challange to find at times.
Thank you, I will look into this today. There were 3 recalls performed so this very well could be the problem, however it was doing this before the relay went bad. The column does not lock, just displays warning and stalls over a couple mph. I installed bypass, nothing changes. Will check for this relay, maybe it failed? I did not see the K-harness when installing clb
Edit: ok, I double checked the bcm area, and I found a purple wire running to a harness that appears to have been worked on and wrapped with electrical tape. I followed the purple wire and found it connected to a relay which was tucked behind the floorboard. There are also two connectors left hanging, which run to nothing. Here is a pic:
The relay I'm referring too, is the one laying on the top corner of bcm and the purple wire runs from it to the connector on the far left (bottom of bcm)
