Default Service Steering Column Lock?

I have read the "Steering Column Thread" and haven't found my symptoms yet, I am sure it is in there somewhere. I have an 01 ZO6 and I recently had the hood re-painted. When I got the car back it said Service Steering Column Lock, I read a lot of the thread and noticed it said to make sure the battery was charged good, I figured that was it, the time was wrong on the stereo, so it went dead at some point. I drove it for a while and got the battery good and charged back up. I got in it today and the message is still there and the voltage is right above 13. I checked with the last owner and he said he never had anything done to the column lock. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You.

I did check the footwell there is no water. We are actually having a drought right now, it hasn't rained in several months. I live in the north western part of the state, really dry and not a lot of rain generally. I don't think I mentioned that it hasn't locked up, just the message is displayed the whole time the car is running. I have a Optima red top battery, but I am not sure how old it is, I looked on it and can't find anything that indicates the age. Thank You again for the help. I will update this when the CTEK gets done, and I start it and see if it is still there. Thanks again,

Same thing. Charged the battery for 24hrs. My CTEK had the green light on showing a full charge. Had to do a few things this morning, every time I start it it comes up and stays on the whole time. Steering wheel has still never locked. I guess Monday I will try and get that report to see what has been done. I may go ahead and e-mail Gene. Thanks.

I tried one other thing working on another problem. In the process of checking all my utter's, I unhooked the battery for the passenger side utter. When I put the battery back in the message is gone and has stayed off. Maybe it just reset it? Now just trying to figure out why I have no condensation under the car with the air running? Checked all my utters and checked the air box drain. All where clean. Thanks again for the help.
