Do the b/u lights fail to operate when shifted into reverse only, or also fail to operate when the car is unlocked via the keyfob with the outside light is low?
I recently had to replace the b/u light switch on my very low mile, '01 coupe. The b/u lights would work when the fob was hit, but not when the car was shifted into reverse (manual tranny).

It's probably this. I had a few go on me. $20 dollar part at Gene's.
Then it's your back-up switch. Just put it up on ramps and swap it out.
Yup! It's an easy swap, at least on a manual tranny...despite the elaborate directions the shop manual spells out, a box/open end wrench is all that's needed....something like an 18-19 MM, IIRC

Yup, then change out fuse 21 in the passenger footwell and you're done.
