Has anyone found a supplier where you can get a replacement plexiglass top for a do it yourself install. Or should I just buy a rebuilt replacement, Eatherway let me know your recomendations. C5 Bill
Probably the easiest thing to do would be to simply buy a used acrylic top in good condition. Shouldn't cost much more than trying to rebuild one with a new panel. Just make sure you quiz the seller on condition issues--cracks, crazing, flaking, bent weatherstrip ends, presence of clips, etc.
Ideally, find one within driving distance. Those things have to be VERY carefully packed for shipping and almost no one does it right.
Anyone out there with a RECENT good experience with a replacement Targa Top from astrotops.com? I have seen several complaints on various forums about poor fit, lexan too thick, etc. with regards to the rebuilt tops from astrotops.com. In their ads, Astrotops claims their lexan replacement tops will not craze or spiderweb, like some of the OEM tops have done. Any comments on crazing or spiderwebbing with the Astrotop replacement top?
GM no longer sells the OEM top and I need a replacement top for my 04 due to a windstorm/tree limb problem. Thanks for any comments, good or bad.
I read the bad reviews about astrotops, and went with Melrose. Good fit and five years later still looks new. It is a garage queen, not a daily driver, but I am happy with it.
not sure of the cost, when I purchased my 98 vette the previous owner had the top painted, exact same color as the rest of the car. Looks very nice. not sure of the price it would cost though
Why not post a "Want to Buy" ad here in the for sale forum. Ask for someone near you (no shipping) that would like to sell a top. Lot of people got two tops and don't use one or the other. Some people have part out cars. No cost to ask.
I have a 99 C5 and looking for a replacement glass top. Do you still have your glass top?

What type of panel do you have. Glass or full top? How much? I did find a glass top and for summer time in Texas, I am looking for the solid top. Thanks
Have you considered refinishing your existing top? Any body shop should be able to sand out the top and re-clear it, better than new. It's likely to be far cheaper than a new top. If you do the sanding and labor to prep it yourself, a body shop would clear it for very, very little $$. Lots has been written here about refinishing tops. Do a search on the forum and I think you'll find that almost anyone would be up to the task.
