Hey guys, a couple days ago my driver side window quit working on my '99 frc. I tried all of the solutions that I found searching on here and none of them worked. So I just pulled the door panel off today and was looking at it and noticed that one of the little pink pulleys was broken. I believe its the upper one towards the back of the door. Can I buy just this little pulley and replace it or am I going to have to replace the entire motor and regulator assembly just to fix this little part? Any help would be appreciated!
As often as the C5 regulators fail you can probably find another member to pull a piece off there old unit and mail it to you. Are you sure thats all that is wrong with it though? the pulleys usually don't break.
I would think the motor would still turn although with a messed up pulley, things aren't going to work very well. The regulator is a full assembly. Wish I had known you needed one, as I tossed one out a couple of months ago when I replaced my driver's side. Sorry... Go to www.gmpartshouse.com for an OEM
Haha thats about how my luck goes. I think I've decided to just replace the entire regulator and motor assembly just to be on the safe side. I found everything from Mid America Motorworks. Has anyone had any experience with them? I've never dealt with them before.
Well, I'm glad we got a thread going on the window issues.... Not to highjack...but to educate...
My Passenger side window stopped working a few months ago. It remained stopped for a few months. I could hear the click-click noise, like it wants to go down...but it wouldn't work. Then, one day, a friend just pushed on the window button (while we were driving) and it worked. And window was fixed for a while.
After a few months SAME problem. It's stuck again. Won't go down, but I can hear the click-click when trying to push the button down. I've used both side buttons...won't work. So, either I can wait for another "Lucky" day, when I might work (like before), or fix it somehow. Not sure what's the problem in this case...
I checked on gmpartshouse.com but couldn't find the entire window motor/regulator assembly and now mamotorworks is sold out of the drivers side so I'll have to keep looking.

I have the same problem but I haven't had a "lucky" day yet where it went down. Trying to figure out exactly what I need to replace before diving into buying parts. Also I've searched on here a little and tired some of the little tricks playing with the wires etc and nothing has made a difference

seems to be fairly common, should I just go ahead buy a regulator and motor or what???
the window regulator is an assembly that consists of the motor and cables. it is a bolt in replacement. i found a video on the replacement of the c5 passenger side on you tube. if you search for it you should be able to do this. the job wasn't as easy as the guy in the video but it wasn't too hard either. just be careful removing parts. it is easy to break the switch panel and the reflector. the little plastic cover for the door screws is easy to break too. ask me how i know. good news is they are not expensive so i put in new ones. the switch panel was already broke and was not exactly cheap but o found a good used one.
the hardest part of the job is getting the window adjusted after putting in the regulator. there are adjustments for window alignment in three directions. up/down, front.back, and tilt in/out. also, the window itself can be placed in the clips that hold it and slid front to back. be sure you buy the gm part and mark the position of the window in the clip with masking tape or a sharpie. good luck
