...under full throttle and I'm curious as to if this would be due to some weak stock valve springs. Should I upgrade to higher grade springs? roller-rockers? I will have a cam later on...but with the stock cam I cant risk dropping a valve into a 28K motor.
Piston slap has nothing to do with valvetrain, at 28k miles your springs should be just fine. Usually the slapping noise is hard to hear in the car and goes away once warmed up. Wondering if youre hearing something else.

Your profile indicates you have a 2003 Z06 ... so the stock valve train should be fine. All though, there have been a few members who have had stock valve spring failures on the 2003 Z06, but it is much more rare than on the 2002 Z06.
Are you getting any trouble-codes? Have you checked for them?

checked for trouble codes the only problem is my relay thats shooting my TCS/ABS/Active handling down. I was just hearing kind of a ting-ing noise on irregular intervals only under load at higher rpms.
i obviously mis-used the term picton slap. i was under the impression it meant contact between the piston and the valves.
Yup and thanks for clarifying what you're hearing. Piston slap is the pistons banging around against the cylinder walls, usually only happens on cold startup and yours should be pretty much immune if it's an '03. Teflon-coated piston skirts pretty much killed or reduced the problem '01 and older LSx engines had.
What octane gas are you running?
If less than 93, try the good stuff next fillup.
If 93, and you really only have 28K miles on it, might be in need of some injector cleaner from sitting for long periods. Chevron Techron seems to have good effect and is available at most parts stores, just dump in a bottle at next fillup.
