It has been a long time since I posted. 11/2010. I'm stumped on a problem with the driver headlight. Came home from dinner and movie last Saturday. Pulled the car into the dark garage, shut it down. Went to take it to work Monday and the drivers headlight only is still up! Passenger lamp is down. Turn the stalk switch on and the passenger light comes up and the drivers side goes down !! They play flip flop ...!! Pull the connector apart while drivers side is up, turn the switch on, pass. side comes up, plug the drivers side back in turn the lights off. Pass side goes down, drivers stays up !!! Turn it on and the drivers side goes down (headlight is onin down position) and the pass side rises!!!! I did the "plastic gear to brass thing" last fall on the drivers side and all went well. What the heck is going on now !!! Thanks for the help Ben ps I "searched" for headlight issues but could not find one that addressed this
So they are reversed in function? Access the headlamp control module and insure the two connectors on it are clean and properly plugged in. This is most likely where your problem is. If that doesn't work you can try this to resync them but its just a guess on my part. Assuming you have the twighlight sentinel, go into the DIC and turn it off. Turn on the headlamp switch and see if they are still messed up or not. Next, turn the headlamp switch back off. If the one is still up, are either lamps still turned on as in illuminated? Its a different path but just asking. If the one headlamp is still up, turn everthing off, disconnect the electrical connector to that headlamp motor assembly then manually turn the **** to lower it. Plug in the connector...hopefully it will stay down.
