Default HVAC Actuator 1998 Vert

When I start my car, and during running (intermitentantly) and when I shut it off, I get a zzhmmm sound like some sort of electric motor. Many I have talked to say it is the actutator motor. I DON"T have the dual controls. This sound comes from behind the inst. panel, at least it sounds like it comes from there. I have had people say check your codes. Well,
I went out and got all the codes. The only ones were history and pertained to battery and window switches. When checking codes as it automatically scrolled through the various options it never went to HVAC as a menu option. Where is it? I can't find anything in there when checking the DIC codes that has a category for HVAC. I have the others such as:PCM, RADIO,TCS, RTD, BCM, AO-LDCM, A1-LDCM but NO HVAC. Where is it? I am assuming that is the noise I hear because what other electric motor is there behind the dash panel. My A/C works ok but, (for a few minutes) the other day it blew so cold I thought ice crystals could form. I have followed all the steps for getting the DIC codes and had several under A1-LDCM and AO- LDCM but HVAC never showed up. I am also assuming that the the motor is off a couple of teeth like everyone else says and I will have to take the actuator case apart and correct it, any ideas? Does this motor run or cycle once and a while during driving? Every time I shut the car off it makes the same sound. Is that normal also? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

I don't think you'll see the havc codes without the automatic hvac in the car. I'm truly not sure though. I also don't know anything about the manual hvac actuators either although I'll guess you could have a cracked gear. Again, I don't know about the manual systems, so this is at least a TTT for your thread. Are you sure your blower motor is working normally? Have you verified that you have vacuum to the hvac?

Yes the control has vacuum. It works when turned to heat or cool. Blower motor works fine and car is cool. I am here in Wichita Falls TX and it has been up to 110* already in June in fact. It just makes that motor noise I was talking about. I thought it might be out of phase and trying to compensate or something. I don't have the automatic dual control but don't I still have one actuator?
Thanks,
Mike
